Semantics 21 Becomes Certified Premier Partner of Project VIC

Knoxville, TN – Feb. 7, 2018: Project VIC, a coalition of law enforcement and private sector partners that champions a transformation in the approach to child exploitation investigations, today announced that Semantics 21 Ltd. is now a Certified Premier Partner of Project VIC.

Semantics 21 (S21) has worked with Project VIC to ensure that its suite of tools is fully compliant with Project VIC standards, providing advanced solutions to law enforcement agencies across North America and Europe. Developed in partnership with the UK and Canadian police forces, S21’s tools are now being deployed in support of Project VIC (including the UK Child Abuse Image Database (CAID) variant) by specialist units across the world.

“Project VIC has worked closely with Semantics 21 and is pleased to announce certification of its product line,” said Richard Brown, Director of Project VIC. “Semantics 21 has adopted our ecosystem’s standards (including PhotoDNA, F1 Video Fingerprinting and the VICS Data Model) and combined them with its own cutting-edge technologies to provide a solution for victim-identification specialists around the world.”

“We are a forward-thinking company, leveraging decades of advanced research and development know-how to produce software which is ahead of the curve, as demanded by digital forensics in the 21st century,” said Dr. Liam Owens (Ph.D., PgCRM, BSc (Hons) Digital Forensics), Semantics 21 founder and CEO. “We are very proud to be working so closely with the Project VIC team and the UK Home Office team to enhance our combined capability and to fully support the Project VIC objective of ‘victim-centric’ policing, while also investing time and resources toward future collaborations and joint development efforts. This is further evidence of our unwavering commitment to producing innovative tools which enable quality policing in the global fight against the sexual exploitation of children, the war against terror, and in other areas such as human trafficking, gang crime, gun violence and drug distribution. The S21 suite has proven that it is possible to focus on victims in everyday investigations while decreasing backlogs.”
