Project VIC: Building the Network to Combat Child Sexual Exploitation

Project VIC: Building the Network to Combat Child Sexual Exploitation
May 16, 2018 Rich Brown

May 14 Law Enforcement has always faced challenges balancing time spent on investigations and the subsequent forensics that now seem to be part of almost all investigations in all crime set areas.

Cell phones, tablets, drones, smart homes, smart televisions and gaming devices are increasing — literally backlogging law enforcement capabilities.

The increase in self-generated child exploitation image and short video clip investigations have also grown substantially and every year more newly generated images are being circulated quicker, through faster, darker networks worldwide.

Project VIC’s contribution is to help organize efforts and standards surrounding these specialized child exploitation investigations by building network connections and collaborations between law enforcement, industry tool providers and other partner non-profits. The results achieved will allow investigators to use higher end collaborative data to load into their forensic tools or services to significantly improve their child exploitation investigations.
